SALINE TATTOO REMOVAL - FAQS

WHAT IS SALINE TATTOO REMOVAL?

Saline tattoo removal is a safe and natural method of removing tattoos using a saline solution (both permanent makeup and traditional tattoos) using traditional or manual tattoo equipment. This service can be used for unwanted  traditional tattoos, lip liner, brows, tattooed freckles, and scalp micropigmentation. Basically if you have a unwanted tattoo, we can usually remove it (with some exceptions). It is far less painful and fewer treatments needed than with laser tattoo removal, which burns the skin and can often cause blisters and scarring. Laser can only recognize and remove certain colors, and often cause permanent makeup colors to turn grey. If the tattoo has any mix of white in it, laser removal will turn the skin black in those areas. Saline tattoo removal can lighten or fully remove black discoloration caused by lasers.

Please be aware that this is a multi-step process and can expect to need (on average) 3 or more treatments, depending on the severity of your needs and desires. Since there is no way of knowing what type of ink, how much, or how deep the pigment/ink was implanted, there is no guarantee on how many treatments will be needed to achieve full removal results.  Most clients see a great improvement after 3 sessions, but depending on how saturated your skin is it may get darker before it gets lighter as we are removing pigment from the depths of your skin and with every treatment we are working the pigment closer to the skins surface. The fresher the tattoo, the easier the removal. There is a time lapse between sessions that is 8-12 weeks apart so the skin has enough time to heal before we begin again. Many clients worry about the healing process, but it is really much better than receiving permanent cosmetics! You can expect the skin to form a thin scab within the first couple hours of leaving the shop, which means minimal inflammation and minimal risk of infection. Unwanted grey or orange brows will look more like shades of brown during the healing process and after 48 hours you can shower as usual. You will receive full aftercare instructions before leaving the appointment.

CAN I GET PERMANENT COSMETICS OR SALINE TATTOO REMOVAL WHILE PREGNANT OR NURSING?

We do not preform tattooing on pregnant women as a general precaution. If you are nursing, we require a signed doctors note to be presented at the time of your appointment to be kept on file.
